The Company of Heaven's range includes a replica of the Stele of Revealing based on the actual size of the original, measuring approximately 51cm height x 31cm width x 3cm depth.
Made of a light- weight fibre board, partially veneered with acacia and other woods and stuccoed with traditional gesso, each replica is individually crafted and finished by hand.
To ensure the highest degree of accuracy, the replica's artwork was painted over a faint photographic image of the original and its colours proofed on-site in Cairo against the Stele of Revealing itself.
After the Stele of Revealing was originally painted in Ancient Egypt, its surface was partially glazed with a clear varnish for protection. Over the centuries that glaze has aged given the Stele a translucent, honey-coloured tone. Up to five layers of coloured varnish are used to reproduce this distinctive tone on each replica.
The final finish, which includes a sprinkling of sand from between the paws of the Sphinx, reproduces the texture of the Stele of Revealing to give a close approximation to the original.
Each original size replica has an inner triangular chamber measuring 7cm x 7cm x 7cm x 1cm depth, allowing a cake of light, a transcription of a favourite verse from the Book of the Law or a personal token such as a small talisman to be included at the 'heart' of the Stele.
Each original size replica will also be inscribed on the base with a title, usually a name, word or phrase from the Holy Books of Thelema significant to the person commissioning the replica.
Each original size replica is made to order and can take up to eight weeks to complete.
